Music preservation recordings    

During the Cuba Now! 2024 summer camp, we launched a music preservation project in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning producer Rubén López Arista. The project culminated in a musical co-production between Rubén, his master student and our colleague Ariel Pérez, and our camp participants.

This initiative highlighted Cuban genres such as Guaracha, Son, and Bolero, featuring collaborations with Jesús Besllo y su Bello Son, Los Fakires, and Trio Los Brillantes. Under Ariel’s guidance, students learned music production, recording, and traditional Cuban instruments. Standout participants mastered montuno on the piano, and Ariel took charge of mixing and mastering.
